Litecoin → Monero

Litecoin in, Monero out. Send LTC from any standard Litecoin wallet and receive XMR at your own Monero address; if the coins sit in an MWEB balance, first check that your wallet can send them to a regular address. The Litecoin deposit stays public, and privacy applies to the Monero you receive.

Pair guide · LTC → XMR

Why people swap Litecoin for Monero

Litecoin to Monero is the route for LTC holders who want part of their balance in a coin that is private by default. Regular Litecoin transactions are public, and Litecoin’s MWEB extension is opt-in: it hides amounts only for coins you move into it yourself, and many exchanges and services work with the regular chain only. Monero hides the sender, receiver and amount of every transaction without an extra step. Swapping directly also saves you from selling LTC on an exchange and then finding a platform that lists XMR.

How long it takes

Litecoin targets one block every 2.5 minutes, so your deposit usually picks up its first confirmation soon after your wallet broadcasts it; a very low fee can leave it waiting longer. The operator verifies the deposit, then sends the XMR. Monero produces a block about every two minutes, and your wallet keeps incoming XMR locked until it has 10 confirmations, roughly 20 minutes. The order page logs each step, so you can always see which stage your swap has reached.

Wallet and address details

Send LTC from any standard Litecoin wallet to the deposit address on your order; it is a regular Litecoin address. If your coins sit in an MWEB balance, check that your wallet can send them to a regular address. Litecoin’s MWEB rules (LIP-0003) allow this peg-out, and pegged-out coins are locked for six blocks before they can be spent again. For the payout, use your own Monero wallet: a standard address starting with 4 works, and a fresh subaddress starting with 8 is the better choice. Never use an exchange address that does not accept XMR.

Fees at a realistic amount

Swapping LTC worth 1,000 USD: the 0.5% service fee is 5 USD and is already included in the XMR receive amount on your quote. Your Litecoin wallet pays the fee for sending the deposit. VeriSwap pays the Monero network fee for the payout, so it does not come off the XMR you were quoted. The minimum order is 50 USD in value.

Common mistakes on this route

  • Letting the wallet subtract its network fee from the amount, so less LTC arrives than the order expects; add the fee on top.
  • Opening the order before the coins are ready to send. The quote is fixed for 15 minutes, so unlock and sync your Litecoin wallet first.
  • Pasting a Litecoin address, or another coin’s address from a multi-coin wallet, into the Monero payout field.
  • Paying out to an exchange that does not credit XMR deposits.
  • Expecting the swap to hide where the LTC came from. The deposit stays on the public Litecoin chain; privacy covers the Monero you receive.
