How the XMR calculator works

The calculator uses the same market feed as VeriSwap’s swap widget and pair pages: the last trade price of each coin against the US dollar on the Kraken exchange. To convert Monero into another coin, it divides the XMR price by that coin’s price, which gives a cross rate such as XMR to BTC. While the page is open it fetches fresh prices about every 30 seconds and shows the time of the last update. If the feed cannot be reached, the calculator shows nothing rather than an old or estimated number.

  • Source: Kraken last trade price, XMR/USD and the other coin/USD.
  • Refresh: about every 30 seconds while the page is open.
  • Your amount is calculated in your browser; only the coin pair is requested from our server.

Market value vs what a swap pays out

The market value is what your Monero is worth at the last trade, with no costs taken off. A swap is different: VeriSwap’s 0.5% service fee comes out of the receive amount, and the quote on your order is taken at the moment you create it and then held for 15 minutes. The swap column and the ticket above show the market value minus that 0.5% fee, which is how the order page calculates the receive amount at the standard rate. VeriSwap pays the network fee for the payout; your own wallet pays the small fee for sending the Monero deposit. The minimum order is 50 USD in value.

  • Market value: amount × reference rate.
  • Swap payout: market value minus the 0.5% service fee.
  • The order page shows the binding figure; the calculator is indicative.

Why other calculators show a different number

Monero trades on fewer large platforms than Bitcoin or Ethereum, so prices for XMR can differ more between sources. A price site may show an average across many venues, an exchange may show the mid-point between its best buy and sell orders, and a swap service may build its fee into the rate it displays. None of these is wrong; they measure different things. When you compare services, compare the net amount you would receive for the same amount at the same moment, with all fees included.

Monero units: XMR and piconero

Monero amounts are counted to 12 decimal places. The smallest unit is the piconero: 1 piconero is 0.000000000001 XMR, so one XMR is a trillion piconero. Wallets usually show balances in XMR with up to 12 decimals, and some tools show fees in piconero. The calculator accepts decimals, so you can type an amount such as 0.25 or 12.5 XMR exactly as your wallet shows it.

Converting XMR to Bitcoin, USDT and other coins

The two most requested conversions are Monero to Bitcoin and Monero to USDT, which is why their tables are shown above, but the calculator covers every coin VeriSwap swaps: Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, USDC, XRP, Cardano, Zcash and Dash. Switch the direction to see how much XMR another coin buys, for example how much Monero 0.01 BTC is worth. Each route with its own page has network notes, a wallet checklist and the same live reference rate.

Converting dollars to Monero

The calculator shows a US dollar value for reference only. VeriSwap swaps crypto to crypto: there is no card, bank or cash option. If you hold dollars, you would first need another coin, such as Bitcoin or USDT, and then swap it into Monero. The how-to-buy-Monero guide explains the routes people use and why buying XMR directly with dollars is harder than buying Bitcoin.

Before you swap

A quick check prevents most problems with a Monero swap.

  • Receive Monero at a subaddress (starts with 8) or a standard address (starts with 4) from your own wallet.
  • Incoming XMR becomes spendable after 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes.
  • Send the exact amount shown on the order, within the 15-minute quote.
  • Keep the order reference; the order page logs every step.

Questions about the calculator

Is the calculator figure the price I get?

No. It is the market value at the last Kraken trade. A swap pays that value minus VeriSwap’s 0.5% service fee, fixed for 15 minutes once you create the order. The order page shows the exact receive amount before you send anything.

How often does the XMR calculator update?

About every 30 seconds while the page is open, using Kraken’s last trade prices. The time of the last update is shown under the calculator.

Can I use it to convert USD to XMR?

You can see the dollar value of an amount, but VeriSwap does not sell Monero for dollars. To get XMR you swap a coin you already hold, such as BTC, ETH, LTC, SOL or USDT.
