What makes up crypto swap fees?

A swap can involve a service charge, a rate that differs from your market reference, and blockchain transaction costs. A sending exchange can also charge for a withdrawal. Some costs may already be included in the receive amount. Read the quote before adding them again: double-counting a fee makes two otherwise comparable offers look different.

  • Service fee: the charge disclosed by the swap provider.
  • Rate difference: compare the quoted rate with a contemporaneous reference, while remembering that a market reference is not an executable offer.
  • Sending cost: what your wallet or platform charges to deliver the deposit.
  • Payout costs: check whether they are included in the displayed receive amount or deducted separately.

Compare the same swap on both sides

Start with the amount you actually intend to send. Select the same receiving asset and both networks on each quote, and compare them close together in time. A native BTC payout and a Bitcoin-backed token on another chain are different products. Record the net receive amount, expiry and any conditions that could change the payout. You do not need to fund an order to inspect a quote.

  • Use the same deposit amount, rather than comparing each service’s default example.
  • Check whether a withdrawal fee is deducted from the amount sent or charged on top.
  • Separate an indicative calculator result from an order quote.
  • Compare the identity policy and handling process as well as the amount received.

The sending network fee is a separate check

Your sending wallet estimates the cost of broadcasting the deposit. On Ethereum, gas is paid in ETH, including when you transfer an ERC-20 token. On Bitcoin, transaction fees depend partly on transaction size and demand for block space, rather than simply being a fixed percentage of the value sent. Check the actual wallet preview before creating a time-limited order. Do not assume a fee from an earlier transaction still applies.

How to read a VeriSwap quote

VeriSwap’s standard service fee is 0.5%. An applicable promotion can change that rate, so read the current quote rather than assuming the standard rate applies to every order. The service margin is already applied to the displayed receive amount. Your sending wallet’s network fee is separate. The minimum order value is $50 and the order quote has a 15-minute validity window. The pre-order widget uses an indicative market estimate; VeriSwap handles fulfilment manually.

  • Check the amount, assets, networks and destination before creating an order.
  • Save the private tracking reference before you send.
  • If the order has expired and you have not sent, restart for fresh instructions.
  • If you already sent and the order expires, contact support with the existing order details; do not send another deposit.

Why the smallest headline fee may not give the largest payout

A percentage service fee scales with the swap amount, while a network or platform withdrawal charge may behave differently. That is why an offer that looks attractive for one amount can be less attractive for another. Compare the actual amount you plan to exchange and the cost your wallet shows. Avoid making extra swaps purely to chase a lower advertised percentage without checking the costs of those extra transfers.

A final checklist before sending

Keep a private record of the quote and the selected networks so you can distinguish market movement, an expired quote and a transfer issue later. Choose a route only when you understand both what leaves your wallet and what is expected to arrive.

  • What exact amount must reach the deposit address?
  • What amount is expected in the receiving wallet, and which costs are already included?
  • Can the quote change, and when do the deposit instructions expire?
  • Does the receiving wallet support that asset on that network?
  • Where are the order tracking and support details?
