What you need before an ADA-to-XMR swap
You need ADA in a Cardano wallet you control and a Monero wallet for the payout. Cardano addresses start with addr1; Monero addresses start with 4, or 8 for a subaddress, and are 95 characters long. The two are not interchangeable: a Cardano address cannot receive XMR. Common Cardano wallets such as Eternl, Lace and Yoroi, or a hardware wallet, all work for sending.
- Set up the Monero wallet first and copy its receive address from inside the wallet.
- Keep a little ADA back for the network fee, usually around 0.2 ADA.
- Only native ADA is accepted. Do not send Cardano native tokens.
Staked ADA can be sent as it is
Cardano staking does not lock your coins. A wallet that is delegated to a stake pool can send ADA at any moment, and the remaining balance keeps earning rewards. There is no need to unstake or deregister before swapping. Rewards that have not been withdrawn yet sit in a separate reward balance; most wallets include them automatically when you send, but check your wallet shows the full amount before you start.
The minimum ADA rule
Every Cardano transaction output has to carry a minimum amount of ADA, about 1 ADA for a plain transfer. That affects you in one way: you cannot send the very last ADA in your wallet, because the change coming back to you would fall below the minimum. Leave a few ADA behind and the transaction goes through normally. The VeriSwap minimum order is $50 in value, well above Cardano’s own floor.
Checking the quote
The ADA → XMR pair page shows a market reference line, 1 ADA ≈ x XMR, from Kraken’s last trade prices with a UTC timestamp. Your order fixes the actual receive amount for 15 minutes, with the 0.5% service fee already inside it. The Cardano network fee is paid by your wallet and is separate. Compare the order’s receive amount, not the reference line, with any other service.
Creating the order and sending ADA
Choose ADA as the sending coin and XMR as the receiving coin, enter the amount, paste your Monero address and create the order. There is no account: the order carries a private tracking reference that opens the order page and its activity log. Save it before sending. Then send exactly the amount shown to the deposit address, in one transaction. Cardano blocks arrive about every 20 seconds, so the deposit is normally confirmed within minutes; every status change is checked by the operator and logged on the order page.
- Minimum order: $50 in value.
- Receive amount valid for 15 minutes.
- Send from a wallet, not from a smart-contract dApp.
Receiving Monero
The XMR payout goes to the address on your order. Monero wallets show new funds as locked until 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes, and a wallet that is still syncing may not show the payment yet. The order page shows the payout transaction once it is sent.
What this swap does and does not hide
The ADA you send stays public on Cardano: the sending address, amount and transaction are visible, and if your wallet stakes, its stake address links your Cardano activity together. Once the Monero payout is in your wallet, later transfers are private by default. VeriSwap does not ask for identity documents, but a swap is not anonymity, and your legal and tax duties do not change.
Common mistakes on this route
The errors we expect most often on ADA → XMR.
- Trying to send the entire ADA balance and hitting the minimum-output rule.
- Sending a Cardano native token instead of ADA.
- Pasting a stake1 reward address, or a Cardano address, where the Monero address belongs.
- Sending from an exchange that holds the withdrawal past the 15-minute quote window.
